The very last day!
Picture; Courtesy to Robert Danewid!
9.00 This is the very last flying day of the 29th World Championships and I hope, that you all at home too, share this very special day with us here in Sweden, where the sun is shining and the gridding is in progres. Lots of things have happened during the last days!
We thought we knew who were going to be in the top 3 and then some pilots being there even from the beginning of the comps, fall out. Yes, sad but this is part of the comps too.
What will happen today!?
Will the top 3 keep their act together ?!
Can some pilots achieve their goal to receive a diploma.
We will know in a few hours. Stand by!
I hear some metereologists talk here together and they think it will be a very interesting day .

---We ARE allowed to paint on walls bit it seems more attractive when it is not allowed.
Though one painting was on the GROUND this morning, showing the surroundings of " a body at a crime scene" . Amazed faces , fun for who knew!

---Closing ceremony tomorrow at 11.
___ v POS IN 15 M. CLASS!
The weather
Bernt started with:" I knew how difficult it is to predict the weather in Sweden, as it can change very quickly. By now you do too."
In very short! Mainly GOOD and up to 2000 m! But....problem 1, is how severe will be the cirrus, problem 2 how bad is the spread out in the late afternoon.
So we are in for another warm day with 27 dgr. and good conditions , same as yesterday. However high clouds may cause some problems, as a large area of cirrus is now W. from us but moving Eastwards over us. There will be inversion at 2000 m and later in the day , this gives a risk of spread out.
First start will be at 11.15 but Sakka advised :" If I were you, I would not go too late".
Sunset at 22.14 and the wind is weak from the SW.
Due to the rather unpredictable weather tasks are not too long. Open class has Ekeby as turn point 3 and pilots have to announce that they are here. Which is good for us as we can see them then. Tasks today cover the N. W. and S.
11.30 First launch delayed till 11.45.The sniffer did not get high enough, thanks to some cirrus which stopped the heating. I just walked over the grid and still no real "jitters" with the top pilots . They lay laughing under their wing or talk together, feeling relaxed. Pretty amazing, but...the way to go!
11.45 No action YET! But keep reading, it will happen soon! Tugs still in front of me, but standing beside their tow plane! The sniffer has landed! Cars are from the grid.
Engines start NOW.
First launch at 12.00.
12.00 First glider in 15 m. class MM has been launched. We GO for the last day ,as Robert said over the radio when he ordered the first launch at 12.00.
Day 10 and last day in this competition is a fact.
It looks very blue over Ekeby, with a lot of great looking clouds to the S., less to the W. and some to the N with some high cirrus there too.
Start line for 15 m. class opens at:12.45
More clouds, good looking ones, popping up in the W.
12. 15 Launches in 18m. in progres NOW!
Startline opens at;13.11.
12.42 Launches from st. class in progres NOW
Start line opens at; 13.35.
18 m. Glider 99 [ Rick Indrebo from the USA] had a problem , landed back, but was re-launched in front of open class at; 1307.
Also glider VS with Italian pilot Stefano Ghiorzo landed back .
13.08 Launches in open class in progres NOW!
Start line opens at; 13.51.
The last official launch was for NB.
After the open class, 15 m. glider VS was re-launched at 13.21.
All 114 pilots are in the air, ready for a good looking last day of flying. I guess atleast 4 hours to go , before we see finishes, but I will keep my eyes and ears open !
Will see the v Pos for you in 15 m. class .
And ...do some packing, though I only leave on Monday at noon. Will keep you informed! Ritz>
