First speed finishes at 16. 23!
Picture; Cars and gliders on their way to the grid!
16.30 The first finishers have just arrived. One direct the rest speed. Glider JB, V8, AX, and AZ are back home. A bit later also AA. Skies were they come from look good with clouds. With the spreading of start times, we will have a full afternoon of hopefully great finishes! Will quickly go back to look at more!
Only one more at 16.39; Glider 99. Great looking clouds now HERE too! We can see the front! That was the line we saw approaching!
16.45 About 16 gliders landed "together". One glider forgot his wheel but just "flipped " it out in time to land after a warning over the radio. Gliders arriving; C, M, 3AB, S9, LK, 210, CX, XT, TU, A2, EP, 10,
The wind is picking up!!!
17.00 Several open class gliders arrived together; HM, N1, C2, PS, X, GY.More to come!!
17.30 Weather was MUCH better then expected!!! They could even "dolphin in the blue". Pilots coming in to down load flightrecorders are happy and laughing and talking together, to share their day-experiences. While I write gliders are still coming in!
Finishes sometimes look scaring, certainly when 15 land at the same time, but compliments to the pilots, they ALL KNOW what they are doing.
17.45 And what about the speed from Michael Sommer; 120.8 km/h over 229.km. And...the UK pilots Russell Cheetham and Pete Harvey, were still 1 km. faster. However Michael takes over the number 1 position overall.
And what about Phil Jones who had all the troubles to start with; at this stage he leads the day!!! He flew the 187.4 km. with a speed of 115.7 km/h. just a tiny bit faster then brother Steve. Great guy's the Jones boys, I remember them when they were youngsters running around at the field, when daddy was flying in the comps. But still 11 to come in this class!
Mac did very well again and under the inspiring coaching from Kiki Clerbaux, he seems to grow and grow!
XT did very well too, admitted he started too early, but had a great run in the end.
Welldone guy's!
St. class is coming in and 15 m. class too. Jan Ola Nordt managed to fly with a speed of 101.4 km/h over the 220,9 km. and leader Leigh from the UK , as well.
French pilot Gilles Navas seems to have a good day in 15 m. with 113.3 km/h., but still a lot to arrive there. Some pilots started 19 minutes later, let's wait and see.
We had till now 6 outlandings; K7, EC, SS, KX, 5A, HAL.
18.15 Look for all results at the result page and I will be back later, though the party is at 8 with all nice Dutch goodies, they started already early in the afternoon I heard from the crews and....300 liters of German beer.... "but KG already claimed 299 liters!!!" So I will be still able to write !
TC's don't forget the TC meeting at 19.30 in the club house. It is nearly empty now here at 18.30, so most pilots must be back. See you later in the Evening Shift. Ritz>
