Outlandings and.... spectecular FINISHES!
Picture; Crews get very good information on the computer and a print out, how to find their pilots.
16.45 More and more reports from outlandings ,But still lots of pilots flying too. Will rush to the restaurant to see what the 18 m. pilots are doing. Stand by!
17.10 18 m. pilots are going strong, I just saw on vPos! XT with Dutch pilot Roland Termaat is at 1400 m. on the third leg . I guess 70 km to go for that groupe , before finishing here! 26 Pilots in that class started within a few minutes!!
First open class pilots started at 14.20 , the last ones at 15.28. A huge difference on a day like this.
17.30 Just heard that open class pilots are flying in the Sala area and still nice high.But.... the thermals there are dying!!! Oi,oi that 's not good! So the last starters might still get theirselves into problems.
18.10. NB, N1 and X ,with first the ETA arrived back home and made speed finishes. We can see one open class glider and 4 smaller ones very close by , but they need more height to make it home safely. We see them thermal! Rather spectecular. Stand by!!
18.15Just had a lot of gliders in. Too difficult to see who is who, but the small ones thermalling made it home . Here are the ones I saw.SY, XT, AT, PL, TC, AM, EP, 09, 210, 3AB, DM, GM, 3T, YF, AS, M. But there will be I have missed.Look for results to find them. Most finishes are DIRECT!!
C 2 is in too, but I do not know if he had to use his engine in the end, as he did not really finish. Yes, both Holger Karow and Russell Cheetham came back under engine.
18.25 Tres dur!!! Very difficult is what Gerard Lherm said , while down loading his flight recorder. Arnaud from Belgium, comes in "hands up" he looks very happy. He flies in the ASH 25 with Jean- Luc Colson.
More landings! YYY, not a very nice one to be honest, MK, PF, BB, LT, SV, JV, QM, WO,
Also out landings from more toppilots as Mikael [ 620]and Borje[8X] from Sweden [ see picture from earlier article] and John Couttz [P8] from NZ. Also VG, NV, MM.
It is rather a battlefield today. Great finishes and more or less "sad" out landings!
WHATADAY!!!!
19.00 Hectic moments here with downloading the flight recorders, but very disciplined. There are enough computers 12 and pilots bring their own laptops too. Pilots congratulate each other with arriving home; "you made it too".Arms and legs are still flying when they talk and they just unload their emotions and some just "pfffff". It must have been tough!
19.10 As far as I heard , we have 52 outlandings till now and 9 not counted for.We can see trailer after trailer leave on the road over the levy bank S. of the field. The S.W. wind with 10 knots gave lots of trouble for the incoming pilots. The last little leg was easier with the wind in the back.
Enough emotions for today! Go and have dinner now and do a "round up " later in the Evening Shift. But first to the hangar for the GRAND PRIX concept.
