Latest news June 11, 2006 Difficult day! Cancelled at 14.00 Picture;Young and very talented UK pilots Jez Hood[former junior world champion] and Leigh Wells[3d place during EGC 2005] in the top of st.class after 5 days. 12.30 The first launch has been delayed till 13.00 and Saka has gone up in the air. The wind has really picked up and feels cool, while the sun still is HOT. Yes wind from the Lake to the S. But....I saw the very first "willy-willy " here, a small one but defenitely one; it "launched" the sand on the tarmac in front of the hangar. So.....We just wait and see!
The skies are still very blue and during briefing Robert showed a beautiful picture of a great looking cloud and he said: " Look well this is the one and only cloud you see today." He is right.
Anyhow at 13.00 the tuggies are "hanging relaxed" in a chair, head against the wall and ..in the shade. No hurry! But.....not long as at 13.10 they were ordered to the grid! So it looks we GO at 13.15.
13.15 Yes 15m.launch is in progress NOW. After that we will have a short delay to overlook the situation. WE FLY AGAIN day 6 is on, at least at this moment .
15 m. class start gate opens at 14.00 and 2 gaggles hang in the blue at around 700 m. to the W. of the field, but climbing we hear with 1 1/2 m/sec.
AZ stopped in the middle of the grid. Do not know his problem yet. He was launched at 13.41.
Tow planes have stopped their engines.
14.00 THE DAY IS CANCELLED FOR ALL CLASSES. THE STARTLINE DID NOT OPEN FOR 15 m. CLASS!
Pilots in 15 m. were asked to enjoy flying a bit more till all other gliders were brought back to their spots and land then, or remain flying if possible.
14.30 Crews and pilots are still busy to bring their gliders back and this will take some more time.
