Latest news June 10, 2006 God Morgon ! A and B tasks set! Picture; Leo[nardo] Brigliadori author [ together with son Rickie] of the book "Competing in gliders-winning with your mind". 9.00 God morgon and what a god morgon it is again. Sunny conditions and at this time of the early morning,still a bit of a cool NE wind. Some cirrus high up. Gliders are nearly all on the grid [05] and we are ready for a NEW day.
THANK you to Leonardo and his wife and the ITALIAN TEAM for giving us an enjoyable night on which we together talked, while having a glas of nice " red" or some soft French bread with tasty Italian cheese, about gliding and the new book "Competing in gliders", which was presented last night, with a slide show.
Most pilots , certainly in St. class were pretty tired and had an early night, though some visited first. Another well visited night!
This morning when I walked in for breakfast ,I was welcomed by the smiling face of Wolfgang [WO], who on TV answered questions from a reporter. It is fantastic to see how many coverage there is on TV and radio here in Sweden, about our wonderfull sport.

--vPos in open class!
-- the 4 winners from yesterday received as day price ;an aero tow ticket for tomorrow.
--After another more or less "funny" video, time for REAL SERIOUS items.
--Chief steward Dick Bradley came forward and asked everybody to listen well and carefully. He told everybody that during the last days some clear evidence of dangerous flying was reported and yesterday we had 2 "near misses" one even NEARLY a mid air collision.Luckily everything went well and we have to keep it like this!!!
TIME FOR SELF REFLEXTION . Rules to fly safely were given again and Dick ended with;" Please be carefull.SAFETY IS..NO ACCIDENT". We all agree!!!
--tonight OSTIV lecture in biefing hangar at 8 [look also to the messages]
--Tomorrow a female pilot ,who is also a priest will lead a service in the old church close by .
--the protest by the Swedish team about the airspace violation of pilot Ake Petterson is rejected by the jury but the fee to lodge the protest was returned.
The weather;
Scandinavia is under a high pressure situation. A weak cold front will pass E. with {thin} sheets of cirrus.We need a trigger temperature of 21 dgr. to get thermals up to 800/1000 m. here. But....there is always still the very cold lake[s] close by. They might have an influence which means that the temperature will be reached later, so a B task is set too.
Later during the day cloud base should go up to 2000 m. with moderate thermal activity. And...we might have till after 7, useable but weak thermals. So a rather long day.
Tasks are set to the NW. Saka urged all pilots to be carefull too, as they all fly in the same area." KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN ! Don't just look around but look and stop at 1 point and look and stop at 1 point again to detect movements. This is the only way to look out well ,according to Saka who is a specialist at flight safety and also involved in the Swedish accident investigation board.
First possible launch at 11.30 and sunset is at 22.07.
First start has been delayed; first to 12.00 then to 12.15 . Saka has launched himself in his Ventus 2, to find out about the dry thermal activity and at 500 m he picked up a rather good one.
Cu you in a new article , as I do not want to make them too long so it will be easy for you to read them. Ritz>
