Latest news June 8, 2006 Evening Shift ! On the picture; Prof. Loek Boermans [to the left] President from OSTIV. 20.30 This was a very interesting day. Though pilots are still coming back from retrieves, there is a very positive atmosphere and everybody was happy to fly. Compliments to our female -meteorologist, as her "godfeeling" to go S. today seemed to be correct, at least looking at the results and speed. We are looking ahead at warmer days and better gliding days, with more influence of the high pressure.
Last but not least ;
I received an email today from steward Marina.
The FAI congratulates pilots Klaus Ohlman / Kathrin Woetzel[Germany] AND Thomas Gostner /Stefano Ghiorzo[both Italy] with their new ratified WORLD record [Class D gliders ] for a distance using up to 3 turn points , flown in Chos Malal [Argentina] over 2.129.9 km.
This is a joint record in open class, both gliders were Nimus 4 DM ,for a joint flight. The record was flown on November 11 2005.
The previous record was flown on December 17 2004 by Manfred Albrecht from Germany.
We add our congratulations!
I saw glider V8 from 15 m. class arriving at the field, after struggling at 600 m. to come back home. I still have n't seen his result and as he for sure has NO engine, I do not know what went wrong. Hopefully tomorrow [or you later, as I call it the day ], we will find out, that he belongs to the "happy few" who made it back home.CU tomorrow. Ritz>
