Latest news June 6, 2006 Training and Safety Panel - second day OSTIV’s TSP meeting on the second day had more discussion re improvements in safety programs. A short time was spent considering what impact, if any, a particular country’s social culture might have on the Human Factors aspect of an aviation safety culture. The last part of the meeting was jointly with SDP listening to the FLARM presentation so that OSTIV would have a clear idea of the system’s impact on gliding. Then, OSTIV-President Loek Boermans presented the OSTIV-Prize to the people of FLARM for their great contribution to sailplane safety. Besides discussing improvements in training matters, the afternoon session focused on reviewing an early draft of OSTIV Operational Standards which is under development. It was given by Matthias Borgmeier and Mika Mutru. Finally, we revieved a French-made video on aeromedicine for glider pilots.
