Latest news June 6, 2006 New Tasks! 12.15 The first launch was delayed till 12 o' clock. The weather on track, according to the satelite pictures, looked beautiful with cloud streets and all "goodies" you need, but the weather here was not so good. We had dark clouds, cold wind and ...rain, so crews had to dry their beautiful and after pledge smelling wings again.
New B tasks were announced and a new start time at 13.30. At 13.00 there will be a field briefing and new tasks will be delivered on the grid.
All gliders are ready to fly. Even MK. Mario worked on that one - the engine was out and here in the hangar- all night and did a checkflight this morning at 8. Everything was OK.
I checked with Wolfgang [WO] who delivers the flashers he uses on his glider-winglets, as they really work well and you can SEE them. He was happy to say that the Fa. Thiesen in Germany makes them. I am sure you can find them on Googgle, or so if you are interested.
"Would you like to be towed by a Volvo to an elevation of 800 m???"
That article was in Bulletin 3 on May 2005 and very interesting, so if this makes you feel you have to read it again, we would like to inform you that a link has been made to read this story about the combination of Piper Pawnee and Volvo. Click here!
13.50 The field briefing was disturbed by another shower, but new tasks were delivered and gliders dried.
B tasks are all polygons with 4 points.
15m.; distance 269 km.
18 m.;distance 305.1 km.
St. class; distance 252 km.
open class; distance 282 km.
At 13.45 we had another shower and everybody rushed to the car to remain dry , as this rain is really cold, so is the wind going with it. But it looks this was the last shower and pilots may be able to start now and fly to the good weather. Keep you informed!
14.20 The club ASH 25 has just been launched to see how the conditions are.
Will rush back to the field. The sun is shining and the clouds look better, but you can still see showers to the W. and E.! Lots of cars on the grid, so not too much hurry.
Don't forget; SWEDISH NIGHT tonight with FREE SAUSAGES , HAMBURGERS and reduced prices for beer.It will be at 8 o'clock in the restaurant/hangar. Just to let you know! Sorry to you readers in the world as you can't be here, but we will toast on your good health.
14.50 5 Minutes ago the day was cancelled by the directors. A pity as we started with such great hope on a real good day. I just had arrived at the grid together with all 12 tugs. The cars had left the field, when Pall came to me and said ;The day is cancelled. We all went back.
We were running out of time as the weather here, did not do what we wanted it to do: Go up high enough, in time for 116 gliders, to go to the better weather area. Not even for 2 classes! And the weather in Borlange was so good with a cloud base of 2000 m. I just heard from Robert. A pity!!
Tomorrow is another day, with new possibilities and chances and finally a bit warmer! CU tonight for the Evening Shift.
