God Morgon Sweden and all friends in the world
9.00 Swedish National Day!
For only 5 years this is a National day here in Sweden. So not yet a long period or a real tradition, but in 100 years it surely will be! Anyhow it is the FIRST National Holiday today, so friends in Sweden ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST. Not our Swedish pilots or the organization, as for them it is a normal working day. And...according to the meteo man a nice cold one ,with good conditions. The locals say that the weather is not as good when it is warmer, so this is what's going to happen tomorrow and we will see if they are correct. The weather is the weather and it "does what it wants to do".
We do not only have early mornings here, but also early nights. After the pretty tough tasks yesterday ,with very challenging weather conditions and so here and there a bit of luck to be on the right place on the right moment,but this is part of competition flying, most pilots had a very early night. A few crews were still walking around and some still had to come back to the field from their retrieve.
Compliments to the 3 representatives of [in alphabatical order] DG Flugzeugbau, Bernd Dorneman, Schempp Hirth, Bernd Mangold and Schleicher, Mario Link ,as they together did a FANTASTIC job in repairing the 4 gliders in front OF and IN the work shop. If we talk about fostering friendship we can start with them, as they help out who ever needs help or what ever glider. Compliments guy's you are "gems".Know you did not have an early night , but atleast I hope you got some sleep.Also thank you for all people who helped them!
Thank you for all your reactions, it is good to see how many friends are in touch with us. Great to hear that you like the vPos tracking and feel part of the gliding here. It is indeed a supergood system.I like to look myself when I have time.
If you ,as country flying here, are wishing to organize a party Please let us know what date and place so we can announce it on the site. in that case everybody knows where to go or what day and we do not have 3 parties and an OSTIV meeting on the same night. Thanks.
Tasks for today:
15 m. class; Polygon with 5 points, taskdistance;494.4km.
18 m. class; AAT with 4 areas and a time of 3 hours and 30 minutes
st. class; Polygon with 4 points, task distance 496.5 km.
open class; Polygon with 4 points, taskdistance 505.9 km.
10.30 Briefing is over.
The daily winners got their prices; the new book from Leo and Ricky Brigliadori . I started reading it already; it is just so good and has fantastic pictures!!
The "SAKA price " for the first 500 km. flown from Ekeby airfield this season, was for PL Stanislaw Wujczak. He received a nice bottle.
German Team Coach Uli Schwenk was asked to come forward and to really pay very good attention!! Of course we were attent too! We saw a video from his daughter going solo in Australia, were she is at the moment. You should have seen his face. She always said she loved horse riding , but had no interest in gliding at all. There she went , to his astonishment, solo in the ASK 21 and said with a smile:" Daddy I have flown solo" and the message under was her bank details to send more money!!!This was all organized by the Australian TC Keith.
Other items;
--Closing party tickets are available from today onwards.
--"vPostrackers" are in the open class today
--remove gliders with a rope after finish
--use your allocated frequence
The South African TC Carol said THANK YOU to the boys repairing their gliders and I found out that she "invented " the name The Flasher for Wolfgang [WO]. I checked it and during his start the red lights flash ,so you can't miss him.
Weather;
dry air again with good conditions and a strong inversion at 2500m.Good clouds, but also spread out.Thermal forecast is for cloud base at 2000 m. from 14.00 hours onwards. Surface wind will be 5/15 km/h but higher, stronger up to 40 km.Temperature is 16 dgr. and sunset at 22.02.
All tasks are set to the West as the expectation is , that there are the best conditions.However outlanding possibilities are difficult in that area , so Saka urged everybody to look at the maps with outlanding fields , given in the practise week.
To the strip now, 05 again ,so a nice walk to loose weight. First possible start at 11.15. CU later in a new article!
At 15.00 on Thursday June 8, opening and reception of the OSTIV Congress. Got an invitation, so if possible will go there.
