Latest news June 5, 2006 Evening Shift 18.00
The first Open class gliders which arrived had to put their engines on ,about 15 km. from the field.Holger Karow, Jean Marc Caillard and Peter Batenburg were the first to come in under engine.
At 17.45 a gaggle arrived with a mixture of gliders.2 Open Class were under them and they MIGHT have finished;the Eta and 1E with Oscar Goudriaan from South Africa. You can check it on the results, but they just arrived home.So be patient.
Busy enough here now with downloading the IGC files. No problems as far as I can see.
Complaints/remarks about the weather ,though as one of the 18 m. pilots said : "They forecasted showers in our area and they were absolutely correct, we found them all, it was a drama".At least he arrived back home.A lot of pilots in this class did not make it home, even Swedish hope Ake Petterson.
I found another young pilot also born in '82 and even later then Adomas, who was born in March. He is LOT pilot Piotr Jarysz and born in June . But we will have a word with both on a quiet day!
19.10 Still waiting for a few pilots to come back. Young Argentinian pilot Damian Goldenzweig is in great flying condition, using "rocket fuel " perhaps as somebody joked. He won 2 days in a row. Great job Damian.2000 points out of 2000 not bad!But on the first day he only got 830, so unfortunately that does n't work.
It looks like a battlefield in a few classes and good pilots ,even potential winners like in my eyes Henrik Breidahl , Holger Karow and Jean Marc Caillard lost a lot of points today. But nothing is over yet, enough days to go.
All stories are about " very difficult circumstances" , "It was not easy Ritz. " "I am glad to be back, better late then not!" Most pilots look tired too!
19.30 Hopefully all outlanded gliders come back home without damage ,though I see 3 already in front of the hangar with luckily minor and repairable problems and I also really hope that MK can fly again tomorrow [ the engine is out and looked after!]. It must be very frustrating to see your concurrents leave, when you are still on the ground and not able to go.
Just heard that one glider landed " wheels up", one in front of the field on the other site of the road and one pilot flew a "bit of a weird " circuit or no circuit,or.....
Still pilots arrive back home! Dutch pilot Hadriaan van Nes made it home too and just landed! Slow speed but...he is "in". 20.00
All gliders are back or counted for. Hurray!
It was Danish Day today. One day later, always one day later ,as they say it here,it is SWEDISH DAY. So TOMORROW all Swedes enjoy their day off and come to visit us! Be prepared!
So to "round up " the day! Great performances from all gliders coming back home, specially from Janusz Centka who flew the task in 15 m. class with a speed of 114.6 km. and arrived well ahead of the rest.
Also 18 m. pilot Petr Krejcirik performed very well with 92 km. /h. specially while in his class the most pilots outlanded.
Great result also for St.class pilot Damian Goldenzweig who flew 109 km./h. and flew his 2d first place in a row.
Open class had an AAT and some pilots really were unlucky there to be caught by a shower on final glide , but nevertheless the performance from Thomas Rendla with a speed of 101.5 km over 514 km. in just over 5 hours was fantastic. Certainly when you look at the circumstances!
Tomorrow is another day. Hurray already for Sweden.
